Archetypos CASA
CASA, exhibition, Go Malaca, Las Palmas, 2024
sterling silver, plastic (architectural model miniatures, scale 1:100)
Principle, origin, symbol, model, prototype. The idea of “casa” (house) has existed since mankind existed. From the concept of temporary and mobile shelter, to the illusion of perpetuity present in the construction of a home, to the abstraction of a symbolic place with which we identify and feel “at home”.
To a house corresponds a plan and a facade, a logical set of compartments and passages, a series of functions, actions and objects; but without the human being who inhabits it, it is just a void, silence, a ruin. To the house we associate a place, but also emotions, smells and sounds, people and memories.
In this jewel, we recognise the archetype of the house element. A versatile piece that features two pin versions (with or without humans) and a pair of earrings. The elements that compose it are autonomous, at the same time as they complement each other. The house exists with or without our presence, it is up to us to inhabit it and transform it into a home.
